About aevum

Founded in 2001, aevum underwent several transformations and is now engaged in development and maintenance of Open Source Software. aevum is owned by Nick Wellnhofer who is known in the OSS community as long-time maintainer of the popular libxml2 library used in major web browsers like Google Chrome or Apple Safari, practically all Linux systems, Apple operating systems like macOS or iOS, hundreds of open-source projects and countless commercial applications.

After stepping down as libxml2 maintainer, Nick started working on libxml2 Enterprise Edition, a fork of the project geared towards enterprise users. libxml2 EE offers a SIMD-acclerated parser and several security improvements allowing the library to be safely used with untrusted input. libxml2 Enterprise Edition is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License (AGPL) but commercial licenses are available through aevum.

Nick also contributed to many other OSS projects like cmark, the reference CommonMark implementation. He was a member and Vice President of the Apache Software Foundation and a member of the GNOME Foundation. If you're interested in a commercial libxml2 EE license, Nick's consulting services or just want to reach out, get in touch with us.
